As the Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications for Convoy, Ryan is working to transform the $800 billion US trucking industry through a fast-growing Digital Freight Network that is taking significant amounts of waste and inefficiency out of trucking while providing higher earnings for drivers, lower costs for shippers, with higher satisfaction rates amongst both parties.

Previously Ryan served as Amazon Web Services (AWS) General Manager for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Ryan focused on solving some of the toughest challenges that hold back machine learning from being in the hands of every developer. In his role, Ryan oversaw the marketing and strategy for the broadest and deepest set of machine learning and AI services in the industry and helped establish AWS and services like Amazon SageMaker as the industry leader for machine learning.

The hallmarks of his 20-year career include shaping Microsoft’s multibillion-dollar Surface commercial strategy and leading that business to double-digit growth, as well as bringing the world’s #2 search engine, Bing, to profitability with over 5 billion monthly searches. Ryan has had the opportunity to lead across a broad set of business, technology, and marketing challenges including responsibility for Microsoft’s consumer services portfolio with 600 million+ customers and revenues in excess of $3 billion.

Ryan attended Seattle Pacific University, where he received his bachelor of arts in business administration and management. He and his wife, Sarah Gavin, are the proud parents of four children who occupy them most days, weekends, and nights.
